ITINERARY
DAY 01: ARRIVE - PHNOM PENH (L/D)
Arrival at Phnom Penh, meets with your tour guide, and transfer to check-in hotel. We visit the Royal Palace situated on the site of the former citadel, and next stop will be Silver Pagoda, home to a glittering array of Buddhist statuary. Then we visit the National Museum, the world’s leading museum of Khmer sculpture. We continue visiting Wat Phnom, standing atop the artificial hill built in the 15th century stands a stupa containing the ashes of a king from the same period. Overnight at hotel, Phnom Penh.
 
DAY 02: PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP (Bus Mekong Express) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we visit the killing filed of Choeung Ek – a soccer-field-sized area surrounded by farmland, the killing fields contain mass graves, slightly sunken, for perhaps 20,000 Cambodians, many of whom were tortured before being killed. A memorial building stands in the centre of the killing fields, many of the skulls inside were pulled from the mass graves, we visit the Toul Sleng, known as the Museum of Genocide Crimes. In 1975 Toul Svay Prey High school was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It was used by the Khmer Rouge as detention and torture centre in the later 1970. Today the building houses exhibits, paintings and photographs of many of the victims. Visitors can see the crude cells built in the classrooms and the torture devices used to extract confessions. Next, visit the Russian Market, Pailin Souvenir shop for some shopping. In the afternoon, we drop you at the bus station for departure by coach to Siem Reap. Arrive, meet with guide and transfer to check-in hotel. Overnight.
 
DAY 03: SIEM REAP (B/L/D)
This morning, visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom (Great Angkor or Great City). Angkor Thom is a 3km walled and moated royal city and was the last capital of the Angkorian Empire. After Jayavarman VII recaptured the Angkorian capital from the Cham invaders in 1181, he began a massive building campaign across the empire, constructing Angkor Thom as his new capital city. The ancient walled city of Angkor Thom contains the famous Bayon Temple with its more than 200 enormous, mysterious smiling faces. Next, visit to the Terrace of the Elephants. Impressive, two and half-meter tall wall spanning the heart of Angkor Thom in the front of Baphoun and Phimeanakas, Carved elephants and giant garudas adorn the wall. Terrace of the Leper King – a double terrace at the north end of the Terrace of the Elephants with deeply carved nagas, demons and other mythological beings. After lunch, visit ANGKOR WAT – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Angkor Wat, the largest temples in the world, with a volume of stone equalling that of the Cheops pyramid in Egypt/ The temples of Angkor, built from 879-1191AD, when the Khmer civilization was at the height of tis development, represent one of humankind’s most astonishing and enduring architectural achievements. In the evening, proceed to watch sunset at Phnom Bakheng hill. Tonight, enjoy your dinner with Khmer traditional Dance show (meal is separately quoted).
 
DAY 04: SIEM REAP (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hote, In the morning, we visit Tanei, Ta Keo, King Suryavarman I commissioned this temple in the 10th Century but it was never completed. It is a pyramid on 5 levels and is dedicated to Shiva. Continue to visit Thomanon and Chau Say Tevoda. In the afternoon, we visit jungle-clad Ta Phrom. This temple was a monastery built by Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother. Ta Prohm looks as many of the monuments did when European explorers first laid eyes on them, then visit Banteay Kdei. O/N (B)
 
DAY 05: SIEM REAP - DEPARTURE (B/L/-)
Breakfast at the hotel, if time permit, we continue to visit the old market and, Artisans D’ Angkor to discover the traditional Khmer techniques used for stone and wood carving, lacquering and gilding, The numerous items made in the workshops are inspired by the rich Cambodia heritage. Later, transfer to airport for onwards departure flight (B)
